A solar energy farm based in Lincolnshire equivalent to the size of  210 football pitches has been given the go-ahead. It is believed to be the largest within the UK and furthermore is expected to power the equivalent of 12,000 homes. Planning permission was granted for over 196,000 panels to be erected at the old RAF base in Faldingworth, Lincoln. The RAF Faldingworth base was used during and after the Second World War by number 300 Squadron. The site was not covered by any international or national designations relating to the conservation and importance. Greg Barker the energy minister announced that the focus is to move away from large scale solar energy farms and concentrate on the evermore 250,000 acres worth of vacant south facing commercial rooftops up and down the country. Barker said "We have put ourselves among the world leaders on solar and this ambitious Strategy will place us right at the cutting edge. There is massive potential to turn our large buildings into power stations and we must seize the opportunity this offers to boost our economy as part of our long term economic plan. Solar not only benefits the environment, it will see British job creation and deliver the clean and reliable energy supplies that the country needs at the lowest possible cost to consumer." myelectricradiators.com are passionate about helping you to reduce your carbon footprint and lower your energy usage.
