In 2014 it has become the norm to find solar panels installed across many of Britain's rooftops. Now Solar panels are to appear in a cool new location. Floating on reservoirs. This is fabulous news for households currently reaping the rewards of energy saving electric heating or other eco energy efficient appliances. The UK's first ever floating solar panel project has been installed in Berkshire. It's developer is certain that the project will be the blueprint of the technology for future floating solar panel sites across Britain. The 800 panels were installed last month on a reservoir at a 300 acre soft fruit farm near Wargrave. It's owner says that the floating solar panels are even more lucrative than current field farms because agricultural earnings from land isn't comprised to make way for them. Additionally the scheme is also eligible for renewable electricity subsides, funded via energy bill payers. Although the technology is not new will it catch on? As we all know anything in water don't last very long without a lot of maintenance. I imagine the structure would be filthy in no time. But what about the welfare of the poor fish having their light taken away from them... does no body care? Why aren't we taking a leaf from the continent and installing solar panels on the rooftops of industrial warehouses and factories, rather than blight our beautiful landscape? The roofs are completely wasted and will surely be nearer to the point of demand than a farm with food production use.
