A recent report released by NPD solarbuzz claim that during 2014, the UK is set to become the largest solar market throughout Europe. If this is set to be true it will see Germany drop down from a dominant pole position it has been accustomed to for the past 19 years. The UK has emerged significantly. If we look back to 2009 UK installed solar panels were 0.3% of that installed in Germany. While the focus of recent times may have been around wind generation and a solar subsides dent which the Tories have made, there has been a consistent pressing by the Government and the public who have invested immensely in solar over the past few years. It has now become a rarity to visit any town in the UK and not see one or two homes with solar panels installed on their roof. The report also reveals that by the end of 2014 there will be over 120 large scale solar projects in operation. This is the largest make-up to the boom in growth whilst also producing significant jobs and investment. In addition to the industrial scale solar farms, there has been 325 medium sized farms installed throughout the UK raring to go and with a further 100 awaiting approval. The UK's Solar portfolio is now estimated to be worth over £4.1 billion with this figure set to rise rapidly by the end of the decade. As well as generating energy by solar panels at home many consumers are now looking at investing in new heating technologies, ones that use less energy and reduce their carbon footprint further. Another great advantage with solar panels is that you are not relying on energy suppliers and their fluctuating price plans. In fact you can now use a feed in tariff to sell back to the grid any surplus electricity which you may have.
