As we experience winter arriving this week, you will most likely be researching the market for the best economy radiators and you may be curious as to whats involved in fitting them. We will be using the SlimPro designer electric radiator from My Electric Radiators as an example. The SlimPro comes packed with all the components you will need ready to fit onto a wall, perfect for a do it yourself installation. Foremost, be careful to ensure that once you have unpacked your wall radiator you don’t accidentally throw away any ancillaries that will be needed to fix your radiator. I’m referring to the wall mounted brackets, screw pack, and remote control provided. Once you have successfully unpacked and placed your radiator and ancillaries in a safe place, fetch a pencil for the next stage. Prior to ordering you will of most likely earmarked a position on your wall where you would like your SlimPro to be situated. It may be that you would like your radiators fitted where your previously installed old outdated storage heaters or water filled radiators were. The chances are that you have already removed these, or in any other case it may be a new build, conservatory or refurbishment where there aren’t currently any radiators situated in the room. Next you should decide how you would like to fit your radiators into the wall. All of our electric heaters come supplied with pre fitted BS standard 13amp plugs fitted. Whilst for the majority of consumers this is adequately fine, a handful of individuals may prefer to hardwire them directly into the main electrics with the assistance of a fully qualified electrician. Next we will be marking out onto the wall where to position and screw our brackets. Using the template provided, position on to the wall where you would like your radiator to go. once satisfied with the position and using a pencil mark the three holes displayed on the template. Following from marking out the holes we will proceed with drilling the holes ready for screwing the brackets onto the wall. You will also be supplied with an easy to digest step by step instruction manual that will specify the correct size drill bit required. If you don’t have the correct size these can be readily picked up at your local hard wear store for £2 or £3. Next is to drill the holes, once completed pick up the plugs which can be found in the screw pack you earlier unpacked and placed in a safe location along with the mounting brackets and remote control. Gently inset these into the freshly drilled holes and confirm that they are tightly fixed ready for screwing the wall mounted brackets. After that we will screw the brackets which you earlier positioned in a safe place along with your remote control. Place the bracket over the pre drilled hole and screw in until secure. Complete the process again for the last 2 brackets. It’s vital that the brackets are fasted securely to your wall. Make sure they are not loose or clatter around as they will need to be secure enough to hold the electric heater. Finally remove the plastic protector from your electric heater and slot the radiator onto your freshly installed brackets. You should pin point the hook so that the brackets are in line with the radiator mounting points. Once in line the radiator will slot in nice and snug. All that is left to do is to plug in, switch on, sit back, enjoy your hand work and think about what you are going to do with all that money you’ve saved. It’s quite simple, everyone can fit our wall heaters in a matter of minutes not hours! As you will now be aware there really isn’t much to it. Save money and do it yourself, as a quick refresh simply mark out the holes, screw in the brackets, hang the radiator, plug in and turn on.
